HYDE PARK PICTURE HOUSE

The project comprised the redevelopment, conservation and extension of the existing historical picture house including the refurbishment of the existing auditorium, with the formation of a new auditorium by excavating a basement below the existing building, refurbishment and bringing up to current standards of internal gas lighting, new side extension to the North façade (Brudenell Road) with associated basement, partial excavation of existing basement to form additional head height for new basement second cinema screen, partial break through existing basement wall to form link between new and existing basement, opening up works in the ground floor foyer area, including some wall removal, to increase circulation between the existing foyer and new extension, complete replacement of existing building services, upgrade of internal environmental comfort within the auditorium and improved accessibility including the provision of a new lift.
