BRIGHOUSE MARKET

Location BRIGHOUSE

Project Value £2.3M

Demolition works had to take place on site before we could commence building the new market within Brighouse town centre. This new market will now provide improved facilities for traders as well as proving a flexible event space in the centre of the market with fixed stalls and space for pop up stalls. The works also included toilet amenities, a new front entrance public realm works. The new market now has 21 No new internal market stalls, fitted out with power and water as well as flood control to external walls.

This was a very restrictive site, bounded by 2 roads, Calder and Hebble Canal and a public house. The existing buildings were constructed directly onto the canal tow path and against the public footpath and a live road.

Early engagement with both Highways and the Canals and Rivers Trust was vital to establish all permits and agree method statements for the demolition. A road and tow path closure were established during the works. Protection measures were installed to the footpath. Traffic management was required for works on the front entrance.
