MARKHAM VALE UPDATE
Great to see this piece in Markham Vale’s latest newsletter. Progress at the Moorings
It may be winter and weather conditions are typical of this time of year, but it doesn’t prevent our construction teams from doing what they are best at in getting on with the job in hand. Over at Staveley Town Basin, Triton Construction are making great progress towards completing the construction of The Moorings building.
As can be seen from the latest photo, the external cladding is being added to the building – this is on the side where the entrance to the first-floor offices is located and opposite the car park. As this work progresses the contractor will start adding the dark grey cladding panels to the sides of the building and to the front facing the basin.
On the inside of the building, the partition walls are being built and works continue on the mechanical and electrical fixings.
The new double fronted building has been branded The Moorings and we have created a new Facebook page – The Moorings at Staveley Town Basin – if you use Facebook then please visit and follow the page so that we can keep you updated with the latest news.
We also have a new name for the access road off Eckington Road; in keeping with the canal theme, the access road to the Staveley Basin site is now officially called Crossland Drive in recognition of the Staveley Town Lock – as readers already know, locks are used to allow a canal to cross land that is not level.
An important focus of the whole Staveley Waterside project is to build on the success of what we have achieved at the Markham Vale Environment Centre and maximise the opportunities offered by Staveley’s nearby location to help more local businesses start up and grow, create around 60 new jobs and contribute to a flourishing local economy. By increasing visitor numbers to the site, we also aim to increase footfall into the centre of Staveley.
