HYDE PARK PICTURE HOUSE SET TO REOPEN

The last surviving gaslit cinema in the world to reopen in Leeds.

The £4.8m refurbishment works which has taken eight years included an extension to the building, restoration of the interior and a 50 seat second screen.

The picture house is set to reopen to the public on the 30th June, one hundred and nine years after first opening. Hyde Park is thought to be the only surviving gaslit cinema in the world.

The independent cinema has been closed for three years whilst Triton Construction built an extension to the building and restored the historic interior, which produced some interesting discoveries.
